On May 5, 2023, the 2023 Canadian Professional Career Forum and Job Fair took place at the Chinese Professionals Association of Canada (CPAC), organized by the Confederation of Chinese Alumni Associations (CCAA), the Canada-China Economic Trade & Culture Exchange Promotion Alliance (CCEA), and CPAC. The event was co-hosted by 10 professional associations, including the Canadian-Chinese Finance Association, Chinese Project Management Professional Association of Canada, Chinese Senior IT Professionals, and the Ontario Chapter of Canadian-Chinese Professional Accountants Association, among others.
The job fair saw participation from 26 hiring companies and institutions such as TD, CIBC, RBC, Deloitte, GM Canada, KIRCHHOFF Automotive and York Regional Police, providing numerous job opportunities. Over 400 participants attended the event, including students, new graduates, young professionals, new immigrants, and representatives from multicultural media institutions.During the forum, industry leaders, senior professionals, hiring managers, and career coaches shared valuable insights, provided employment and networking opportunities, and offered professional advice through keynote speeches, panel discussions, company presentations, and career coaching workshops.The job fair garnered extensive attention, being shared across numerous WeChat groups, including 11 professional career job fair groups with over 2,000 members, more than 120 alumni associations with 20,000 members, and 10 co-organizers’ professional associations’ member communities. Additionally, university career centers and student associations also spread the word. The event received coverage from various local media outlets, such as OMNITV, among others.The event was widely shared on various WeChat groups, and local media, such as OMNITV, covered it. The event also featured company showcases, and roundtable discussions focused on the “new normal” in the financial industry, technology, and innovation. Panels included representatives from major companies and organizations, such as TD, Equitable Bank, General Motors Canada, KIRCHHOFF Automotive, York Region Police Department, Diversity Institute of TMU, ABC Technologies, etc.  The discussions provided valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing various industries. They advised job seekers from minority backgrounds on accessing and advancing in the Canadian job market.
